The International Horizon Scanning Initiative (IHSI) is excited to announce the upcoming
launch of a feasibility study focused on Medical Devices (MD), set to begin in the fourth
quarter of 2025. This marks a major step forward as IHSI expands its horizon scanning
capabilities beyond pharmaceuticals to include a broader range of health technologies. 
 
The study aims to assess whether it is possible to early identify and monitor emerging
medical devices within healthcare systems. Through collaboration with member countries
and expert stakeholders, IHSI will explore how horizon scanning for medical devices can
support evidence-based policy decisions and improve health outcomes. 

This initiative reflects the growing interest among IHSI partners in strengthening innovation
readiness across all health technologies. The start of the MD feasibility study is an exciting
development that highlights IHSI’s commitment to continuously evolving and responding to
the needs of its members in a rapidly changing health landscape.
