IHSI Membership Update: Expanding Collaboration Across Europe

The International Horizon Scanning Initiative (IHSI) continues to strengthen its collaborative
network, now encompassing nine full member countries: the Netherlands, Denmark,
Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Ireland, and Sweden. These nations are

represented by key health authorities, including the Dutch National Healthcare Institute, the
Danish Medicines Agency, and the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance in
Belgium, among others. Together, they represent over 83 million EU citizens, working
collectively to enhance pharmaceutical market transparency and inform healthcare decision-
making.
In addition to full members, IHSI’s network includes over 50 affiliate organizations across
participating countries. These affiliates comprise national ministries of health, health
technology assessment (HTA) agencies, and payer organizations. Notable affiliates include
the Austrian Institute for Health Technology Assessment (AIHTA), the Belgian Health Care
Knowledge Centre, and the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics in Ireland. This
extensive network fosters a collaborative environment for sharing expertise and resources
in horizon scanning and policy formulation.

The growing interest and participation in IHSI underscore its role as a pivotal platform for
international cooperation in healthcare. By uniting diverse stakeholders, IHSI facilitates the
development of best-in-class pharmaceutical intelligence, enabling member countries to
anticipate and respond effectively to emerging health technologies. This collaborative
approach not only enhances the quality and independence of data-driven decision-making
but also contributes to the sustainability and resilience of healthcare systems across
Europe.
